En Agosto realicé un viaje muy personal a Trujillo llevando la muestra de mis Neo Huacos “Y qué hacemos con nuestra Historia?” inaugurada en la Casona Orbegoso, sigue su temporada honrando a mis ancestros.

A mi pedido, la muestra fue instalada en las habitaciones donde vivió mi papá sus últimos años.

Muchísimas gracias a la Casona Orbegoso en su excepcional director Marco Neyra, valioso gestor cultural, abriendo caminos conectando el arte y la comunidad.

Paralelamente llevé una ofrenda a la Huaca de la Luna en tierras Moche, un Neo Huaco de carrizo de 4m. de altura, agradeciendo la inspiración que me traen sus símbolos, que son parte de mi exploración cultural.

“Conversaciones” Latin American Indigenous Art. Brings pre colonial and contemporary artworks into dialogue, underscoring continuity and reinvention in Latin America’s rich Indigenous traditions.

This exhibit, held at the Museum of Fine Arts at Florida State University, is curated by Dr. Michael Carrasco and Dr. Kaylee Spencer, the museum director.

I am honored to participate in this exhibit, showcasing four pieces from my series “So What Do We Do With Our History?” as well as “The Last Inca Princess.” I’m thrilled to share that two of my pieces have been acquired by the museum. Additionally, I had the pleasure of being invited for a presentation and lead two painting Neo Huaco’s workshops, The Selfie of the Past.

I am profoundly grateful for the incredible experience I just had. I felt embraced by the enthusiastic and welcoming museum staff, including both teachers and students.

At the Met's Petrie Court surrounded by inspiring sculptures, the experience of leading a creative workshop featuring ancestral Peruvian images from the Mochica culture is just extraordinary .

The respect the museum shows for ancient civilizations is admirable with the reopening of their espectacular renovated galleries.

 I am deeply grateful to curators Joanne Pillsbury and Laura Filloy Nadal, and to the Peruvian consulate in New York in the Consul General Oswaldo Del Aguila, and Deputy Consul General José Emanuel for the support and excellent arrangements. Consulado General del Perú en Nueva York

@anadeorbegoso shined at the @metmuseum and with her, Peru did too!

 Ana is an incredible Peruvian visual artist who reinterprets our history through contemporary art.

Today at the MET she presented her workshop “The Selfie of the Past,” inspired by Mochica culture, and it was so powerful — she invited us to create and even intervene on images from the past.

This Sat. 11th from 1-4 at the MET museum at the marvelous sculptures' Petrie Court, I will be having a free photo collage workshop "The Selfie of the past", inspired on Peru's ancient culture of the Mochicas. It's gonna be fun. Would love to see you. All are invited!!!

Este ha sido un año muy especial, marcado por experiencias que siento como hitos en mi camino, profundamente conectados con honrar y honrarme.

Vivir un mes en Venecia como artista en residencia fue un sueño hecho realidad, un regalo de la vida después de tantos años de esfuerzo y dedicación.

Luego, llegó el momento de rendir tributo a mis ancestros: a mi padre, a la abuelita Jacinta, al abuelo y al mariscal, llevándoles como ofrenda una exposición completa a Trujillo. También ofrecí un Gran Neo Huaco a los Mochicas en la Huaca de la Luna, en gratitud por permitirme inspirarme en sus símbolos.

Este recorrido me llevó además a compartir talleres en espacios como el Art Institute de Chicago, el MAC Barranco y el MUCEN. Y

Para mí, las huacas no son solo vestigios arqueológicos, sino presencias vivas que nos acercan a nuestra propia historia. Al habitarlas con el arte, las reconozco como espacios de memoria y de diálogo con lo ancestral. Gracias huaca Mateo Salado en su director Pedro Espinoza Pajuelo

Mi misión era agradecer a los Mochicas con esta ofrenda al permitirme trabajar con sus simbólicos huaco retratos.

Quiero agradecer a la administración de las Huacas de Moche en su director Carlos Rengifo y al amable equipo de arqueólogos y técnicos por abrazar esta accion.

Ayer llegué a Trujillo con una misión que me había propuesto, la de cerrar círculos emocionales trayéndoles mi muestra de los Neo Huacos, Y qué hacemos con nuestra Historia?

Cuando apasionadamente me embarqué en el proyecto, no imaginé lo laborioso que sería.

32 fotos por imprimir y enmarcar, maqueta 3D, museografía, 36 piezas en cemento pintadas, 5 en resina, 45 piezas en yeso para los talleres de "Pinta tu Neo Huaco" y la elaboración de una pieza de carrizo de 4m.

Una tarea inmensa. Pero todo valía la pena. Vengo con la misión de agradecer con esta ofrenda a los Mochicas el permitirme trabajar con sus huaco retratos. Además honrar a mis ancestros, a mi padre y a mi abuelita Jacinta, a mi abuelo y al mariscal.

Si estás en Nueva York esta noche un grupo de artistas vamos a tener un evento de poesía y música.

Leeré poemas de mis Vírgenes Urbanas creados por el poeta cuzqueño Odi Gonzáles, que acompañan a esta serie fotográfica narrando su cotidianidad. Estas imágenes proponen una revisión de historia a través de lo femenino utilizando de base pinturas coloniales de nuestro acervo histórico.

Ahora hablan de nuestra historia y no la del conquistador.

Urban performance and cultural intervention �During an artist residency in the city of Venice, I decided to bring with me from Peru a set of historical symbols I have been working with for years: The Last Inca Princess, a figure that embodies resistance, silenced femininity, and the ancestral force that still lives within us.

Inspired by Venetian masks—symbols of anonymity and theatrical power—I created golden and silver versions of the Princess’s face, adorned with Inca-inspired motifs. With the mask on, I walk the city.

Photographs and videos capture moments of encounter with passersby, with architectural spaces and with the water—eternal witness of history.

At night, I move through the streets projecting the video with the story of the Princess, she appears from the Andes, surfacing her story among canals, tourists, and baroque buildings.

With quite fantastic (and magical) opening events, the Met Museum inaugurated a spectacular renovated Rockefeller wing, dedicated to ancient civilizations.

From Africa & Oceania to the Americas, the displays were spectacular. Happy to see so many colleagues together in this celebration Andrew J. The museology opens up new conversations as Ulla Holmquist @ullasarela, director of the Larco Museum stated, "Acá empezarán nuevas conversaciones, con nuevas generaciones que tejerán las historias viendo con los dos ojos bien abiertos. Porque nos contaron una historia y ella aún aguarda a ser reconocida ...para reencontrarnos.

Couldn't be more happy with this news. My Neo Huaco will bring new stories to its new home. Thank you Gabriela Rosso for your tenacity opening spaces for Latin American art.

The Neo Huaco is a recreation of a ceramic vessel of the ancient Moche culture from Peru.

The participants of the workshop painted their own piece, recreating this historical object with their own contemporary perspective.

Interacting with a historical object, even from a different culture helps us connect with our own histories. By recreating history, we are part of the path to its transcendence.

At the end of the workshop the participants take it home with them. History is alive.

A day at the Art Institute of Chicago!

How thrilled I am having had the opportunity to converse about my art practice with favorite curator Andrew J. Hamilton at its amazing auditorium. When I saw the size of the space, butterflies in my stomach were having a marathon, but feeling so welcomed and the warm audience made me feel at home. It was also a great pleasure to get to spend some time with the Latin crew of the museum thanks to Miguel Perez. Had an exciting visit to the storage room, what a bonusAnd a lovely dinner with Peruvian Consul Veronika Bustamante and Luis Muro, peruvian arqueologist Field Museum curator. Art doesn't stop. Today is the "Pinta tu Neo Huaco" workshop.

So looking forward to welcoming @anadeorbegoso to the Art Institute of Chicago later this week! I am excited for our conversation about her work on Thursday night in Fullerton Hall—but even more excited for Saturday! Ana will host an event painting plaster versions of her iconic Neo-Huacos in our Ryan Learning Center, building on her previous work with youths at the archaeological site of Huaca Mateo Salado in Peru. Register for the talk and art making on the museum’s website!

I feel fulfilled having had the chance of working together with dear artist friends @erikaharrsch and @yapciramos. We went through the experience of curating a powerful exhibit and sharing a process of mutual learning and support.

Our Triad Dialogue exhibit came to an end honoring the feminine of our ancestral traditions and ancient wisdom and making a statement on “cultura viva” and ecofeminism.

Several parallel events took place during this installation adding to the narrative: guided visits, a conversation with the artists & curator @emireth_herrera; a powerful decolonial performance by artist @salomeegas; a unique workshop of the Silbo Gomero by artist @yapciramos, the Guanche whistle language of the Canary Islands.

And for the closing of the exhibit, a beautiful and empowering spiritual celebration, an Offering to Mother Earth, the Pachamama, guided wonderfully by guest artist Claudia Tinageros @movemeant.medicine. We were so lucky to have the participation of honorary guests, Peruvian composer & impactful singer Olga Milla @olgamilla3 and talented guitarist Edmundo Vargas.

THE OFFERING/LA OFRENDA, an event of gratitude to Mother Earth, the Pachamama, will be the closing of the exhibition TRIAD DIALOGUE that comes to an end this Wed. Jan 15th 6pm at Instituto Cervantes.

The three artists Erika Harrsch, Yapci Ramos and Ana De Orbegoso will gift souvenirs to the attending public on a first come, first served basis.

The celebration will be conducted by guest Claudia Tinageros Moncayo. As special guests we will have peruvian singer songwriter Olga Milla and guitarist Edmundo Vargas.
