The ways your practice contends with the past and imagines futures is so powerful, and the committee hopes to illuminate your perspective to conference participants and to frame the conference by highlighting your work.”

This was a powerful conference with great professionals including panels on restitution and repatriation of art, memory and transitional justice.

Mis Vírgenes Urbanas llegaron a Cuba a compartir historia y cultura. Inauguraron en la bella Galería Carmen Montilla (Habana Vieja). Estoy muy agradecida a la dedicada gestión de nuestro Embajador GonZalo Guillen logrando una impecable realización en cada detalle. Participaron en el pasacalle el colectivo loyaldance_ y las bailarinas @amerikarce , @la_giralt_ , @paulita_luciii , @_katy_delgado

Este Martes 4 de Abril a mediodía inauguramos EL ALTAR FEMENINO DE HUAROCHIRI en el @ccincagarcilaso. Todxs invitadxs!!! Estoy muy emocionada de ser parte de este trascendental proyecto de arte y antropología en un homenaje a la historia creando imágenes reinterpretando el manuscrito. Un mágico recorrido con tremendas mujeres artistas guiadas por una apasionada antropóloga Mapi Fortunic y la Abuela Alejandrina Ayala, con Mariana Tschudi, Rocío Rodrigo Prado, Cristina Planas, Natalia Iguiñiz Boggio, Valeria Ghezzi, Carolina Bazo, Evelyn Merino-Reyna, Luz Letts. Y Giuliana Borea elaborando un súper texto

Today is the start of #HispanicHeritageMonth! We’re kicking off the month with an artist highlight on @AnaDeOrbegoso.

Ana De Orbegoso (b. 1964), a New York-based Peruvian multidisciplinary artist, is recognized for her socially engaged art practice. Through the use of historical iconography, she explores aspects of gender, identity, and collective memory in her work.

Proud and thankful the exhibit was inaugurated with a great speech by ambassador Mr. Gustavo Meza-Cuadra and my dear gallerist Gabriela Rosso @rofaprojects. Accompanied by dearest colleagues and friends Andrew Hamilton curator Art Inst. of Chicago, sculptor Varda Yoran, art writer K.Mitchell Snow, photographer Muriel Hasbun, Gonzalo Ghilardi, among many others.  to all that went.

Y qué hacemos con nuestra Historia?

Honrarla hoy y siempre!!! nos la llevamos puesta, es la columna vertebral de nuestra identidad. Gracias al Art Institute de Chicago por este post y al Museo Larco de Lima por permitirme trabajar con las piezas de su colección.

Ana De Orbegoso’s “Neo-Huacos” are new versions of a very ancient kind of ceramic vessel—often called “huaco retratos” in Peru—from her series called “¿Y qué hacemos con nuestra historia?” or “So What Do We Do with Our History?"

These gleaming metallic objects take the form of portrait vessels that were made by artists of the Moche civilization from around 100 to 500 CE. Such vessels are likely one of the few examples of portraits in the ancient Andes.

En un emocionante evento en Madrid se inauguró ANTES DE AMERICA: Fuentes originarias en la cultura moderna.

Esta muestra no es sólo una exhibición, es una declaración, un manifiesto que demarca el reconocimiento a un movimiento artístico de colonial con referencias originarias latinoamericanas. Un gran estudio de todas las Américas de Rodrigo Gutiérrez Viñuales (U. Granada) realizado por la Fundación March y su excelente equipo. Alrededor de 240 artistas, 600 piezas.

Artistas peruanos participaron Emilio Rodríguez Larrain, las hnas. Izcue, Sandra Gamarra, Susana Torres, Kukuli Velarde, José Verá Matos, Mario Acha Kuster, entre otros. Inmensamente agradecida a todos los amigos que viajaron a acompañarme.

Es maravilloso ver cómo las Vírgenes Urbanas siguen caminando. Ahora invitadas por la ciudad de Matanzas en Cuba acompañando el aniversario de su fundación. Sumamente agradecida al Embajador GonZalo Guillen promoviendo nuestra cultura peruana con tanta dedicación.

Es maravilloso ver cómo una obra toma vida y recorre espacios creando caminos culturales. Esta vez las Vírgenes Urbanas, acompañadas del gran legado del cronista del siglo XVII Felipe Guaman Poma, son parte del intercambio cultural entre Cuba y Perú en un encuentro de ciudades patrimoniales. Luego de La Habana, las vírgenes están exhibiéndose en  la Catedral de San Carlos Borromeo de la Ciudad de Matanzas que por vez primera acogió una muestra expositiva, por lo que "Vírgenes Urbanas" han tenido gran relevancia al tratarse de una obra acerca de la identidad andina.

realizaron también un pasacalle llevadas por las integrantes de la academia Planeta Moda Cuba, quienes se movieron al ritmo de las bandas Casino Bellamar y Suin Cubano.

Muy agradecida por la gestión del Embajador del Perú GonZalo Guillen, quién promueve nuestra cultura con mucho entusiasmo.

La historia es la columna vertebral de nuestra identidad.

El Gran Neo Huaco ahora acompaña a la majestuosa Huaca Mateo Salado en un bello encuentro. Es grande la emoción!!!.

Muchísimas gracias a su director el arqueólogo Pedro Espinoza. Su visión educativa ha convertido a Mateo Salado en un espacio abierto a la comunidad realizando talleres para niños y adultos, obras de danza y teatro, festivales de cine y música y mucho más. Una huaca integrando el pasado con el presente.

Vayan a visitarla, es la huaca más guapa de todo Lima!!!
