Al apropiarnos de nuestra historia, adaptándola a nuestra vida diaria, la hacemos nuestra, vive con nosotros y, por ende, trascendemos.

¿Y qué hacemos con nuestra historia? nos acerca a la reflexión de las distintas funciones que ha cumplido -y ha venido cumpliendo- la representación humana, siempre estrechamente ligada al concepto de identidad y memoria histórico-colectiva.”

As part of our “Dissolving Borders” exhibition, we had a hands on workshop with artist Ana De Orbegoso creating messages to wear on your daily clothing. People brought tshirts, jackets, pants, bags and transformed them into pieces of inspiration!!!

AnaDeOrbegoso is a Peruvian multidisciplinary artist based in New York whose work often explores aspects of identity through the use of popular iconography.

This work, “La Virgen de la Trinidad”/“The Virgin of the Trinity” (2006), is part of a larger series titled “Urban Virgins.” De Orbegoso describes this series as a “decolonization project,” as these works are based on historical religious paintings that originally enforced European ideals of religion and beauty in the Spanish colonies. Instead, De Orbegoso replaces the colonized symbols of the conqueror with elements that celebrate Peru today.

Mientras haya una mujer maltratada, tanto física como psicológicamente; mientras haya una sola mujer violada o abusada sexualmente; mientras haya una sola mujer asesinada. Seguiremos luchando, cada vez somos más!!! Esta lucha nos afecta a todxs como sociedad y como sociedad debemos afrontarla.

“Con su pluma salvó muchas vidas”. Con una espectacular escultura sin rostro simbolizando su trabajo en clandestinidad salvando cientos de vidas, es homenajeada una mujer que nos deja un gran legado de coraje y amor al prójimo, nuestra heroína peruana de la Resistencia francesa durante la invasión nazi, Magdalena Truel. Gracias a la investigación de nuestro Hugo Coya, a la inspirada escultora judío israelí Varda Yoran donando su pieza, y al gran equipo de Carmela De Orbegoso, Fco Leo y Edi Merida.
